Note that I do the initial macOS setup without any devices connected to the MacBook. I usually do this each year to at least cover my Apple One Family and other app subscriptions. My tip: Try to cover the cost by buying gift cards in advance with a 15 or 20 percent bonus credit so that the cost is reduced by that percentage.
